I am not sure if it is only me.....but many times I see strangers wishing me or each other morning, evening...."how u doing" ,,,etc....
but Indians (I am also an Indian -:) are a little reserved....I do not see a greeting from fellow Indians that easily.....again I am not saying Indians are bad (cause I too am one -;)
maybe it is a culture thing for us not to greet strangers ?
PS - I have had my share of experience where non-Indians are also sometime rude me to me .....

To pbojja, your post shows how you may have completely misconstrued my post. I haven't written the post out of frustration of not being EB-1/2 at all. And am I dreaming when I hear you say that good English speaking skills aren't important in the U.S? Maybe I am in another world. I said clearly that the 'fraud' desi firms and their employees have tarnished India's image. They should be removed from the system and we should be in line with 'genuine' cases. What's wrong with that? Where's the unfairness here?

Focus on removing country quotas, release the numbers lost, get GCs for 5-10 year waiting folks, get citizenships for anyonne more than 10 years legally in US, project yourself with good things. There can be 100s of bugs in the system, but this is not the time to cleanup.
Focus of projecting good things about us, which are PLENTY.

I have been thinking about whether to attend the rally or not from past few weeks. Attending the rally would require me to take a day off. Finally today without thinking twice I just went to my manager asked if I can take day off on 9/18 instead compensate the work in the following saturday. It was approved and I am attending the rally on 9/18!
I am feeling so good now.
Also, I live in DC area and can help if somebody needs to be picked from airport to the rally and drop them back if needed.
Hope to see thousands on 9/18th...

I believe we are wasting our energy here. Quarterly spill over is already a law and we need to make DOS/USCIS to implement it. If we have some many people are ready to sue USCIS on country quota issue, why dont we use that energy on the low hanging fruit...

You should be fine dont worry, just do it in time. I got my MTR approved in 7 weeks successfully on providing the required docs from new company.
If you have changed job after 180 days.
Just provide additional evidence about your new position and new company details. Make sure your new position matches your labor certification and I 140 requirements.

Republicans are generally more amenable to legal immigration fixes than Dems. While not all of the Dems are bad, most of them dont care about legal immigration -- they just want the illegals. If it were not for these Dems, 5882 would have sailed through by now
I am sure NoBama will say CIR. illegals first. etc. etc.
I am not sure how much the next president will affect the passage of the bill through the two houses since they were majority democrat and will continue to be majority democrat. Senate is projected to continue to be majority democrat even after the upcoming election (when 1/3th of the Senate seats are up for election). A Republican president might not veto such a bill. Not sure if Obama would veto a bill which has passed through a democratic majority vote. Just a thought........I could be wrong.

Pretty much every one is the forum here is happy to receive green dots and loathe when some one gives then a red dot. I know very well that a green/red dot is not such a big deal. What's the red or green dot really mean, when we have bigger things in life to worry about. But the fact is that getting a green dot makes me happy. I am sure it makes pretty much any body in this forum happy at least for a couple of hours.
Now, why don't we use this basic human nature to increase contribution to IV?
Here is my thought:
I will contribute $10 to IV, when ever any one gives me a green dot; subject to a maximum contribution of $50 a month. I will go to my 'User control' panel on a specific date (which shall remain a secret with me) and will donate (# of green dots - # red dots) x $10 to IV.
I welcome everybody in the forum to use my logic and idea with any changes that they see fit in their specific situation.

Hi pd_recapturing, I am glad you understood my post clearly. I understand your point as well. Determining whether a company/employee is indulging in fraud or not is quite difficult if not impossible. I would suggest we start with reporting companies we know people work for and have negative experiences/comments about. It would mean reporting them based on anecdotal evidence but what else do we have as a starting point? I also know website reviews might not be very reliable since some disgruntled employee might post exaggerated comments about a company which might be following all the rules. But in general, we do know from colleagues/friends their experiences about employers who have sketchy credentials. Even TCS, Infosys indulge many times in L1 fraud as I have noticed. All I am asking for is better scrutiny by the USCIS at an earlier stage like PERM so such fraud applications can be removed.
I do not wish the genuine employees any ill will (certainly not) but I would like the fraud ones out of the system. Let's brainstorm more and we might have some success in cleaning out the queue of such frauds. Thanks for your insight.

What I refute is the argument portrayed by misinformed members that the shift in power was caused significantly by the anti illegal alien position. It is not true. That's all I am saying.
Contrary to belief of some members, I am not disappointed with this. I will continue to be your Ombudsman as usual and report everything, probably you will hear more good news for those who believe that amnesty is the way to go. Facts are facts. I am not here to defend any side.

I did not find this invalid. But the NSC update from last year also doenst say as how long it was valid. We really need to talk to an attorney.
As for me, I am going to file my I 485 by July 31st if I dont receive the reciept notice from USCIS. We can just show other proofs that it was more than 15 days that we filed our I 140.
In this case we dont know till when the update is valid. so it can't b said that it is invalid also.
so I am planning to wait till Aug 10 to get the receipt notice, otherwise i ll fle myself with the fedex tracking number and the letter from USCIS about the labor approval.

Anybody knows what happens to our SS money? If we become canadian citizen do we get that at the time of retirement?

ya in the end i may want to come back to US but you never know if we like it in Canada and my kid settles down there we may end up being there and forget about US :)

I flew Air France once in 2003. My connecting flight from Paris to Delhi got delayed by 12 hours. When I approached the Air France staff, they told me that since I had an Indian passport, I would have to wait out the entire time in the transit area. Meanwhile, they proceeded to make arrangements for other non-Indian passengers. They even refused to acknowledge my attempts to reason with them, either not replying to me, or replying only in French. I filed a formal complaint afterwards, but never got a reply.
I have travelled on numerous times since then, but never with Air France. I don't even consider them as an option anymore.

I missed it, not aware of it, not sure why. I am glad to see this chapter grow. There was a time where we were searching for folks with torchlights. Thanks to Chintu, walking_dude, cagedcactus, bestin and all others who are now making this happen.
I have a very close friend in Michigan, and asked him to join, but he talks about all hardships, about his HR manager, about his company, about his lawyer, about everything except IV stuff. I am sure there are many more people here doing the same thing. We have to motivate folks to come forward. We cannot afford to have people who are inactive.
Good luck to you all, try to merge folks from nearby states if they are still not organized until they get organized.
I will email you and other leaders to keep everyone informed about the activities here. Your guidance will be the fuel for Michigan Machine.

Apart from the bad language used by some people .... I dont believe that there is any infighting .... disagreements with point of view is not infighting ... It just a primer for the points and discussions that will definitely come up when lawmakers will argue their points of view. And from that perspective it is enriching this portal forum and not denigrating it.
