I recieved my I-140 receipt notice finally from Nebraska Service Center, it does not have the A#, may be due to the fact that I belong to EB3 category.
As one of my friend who is in EB2 category has an A# on his receipt notice which he got yesterday from Texas Service Center.

Below is part of a message I posted in another discussion, but this deserves it own discussion. If you are a legal resident of the US, such as an H4, even if you are a child, and you have an ITIN, you can get a Social Security Number, because that is the only way to get the Economic Stimulus Payment.
Be forewarned that the SSA will put up road blocks. You will likely be denied your first application. However, the law is clear and there is no cost to apply. You also have a right to appeal. A cover letter explaining why you have a RIGHT to a Social Security Number will help support your case. You letter should refer to the laws and statutes cited below.
The only way to get the stimulus payment is to obtain a Social Security Number for "non-work" purposes. The SSA may issue an SSN to an alien under the following provision:
20 C.F.R. � 422.104(a)(3)
(i) You need a social security number to satisfy a Federal statute or regulation that requires you to have a social security number in order to receive a Federally-funded benefit to which you have otherwise established entitlement and you reside either in or outside the U.S.;

Was listening to NPR today and some anti-immigration group apparently sent 700,000 web faxes/emails to get the current CIR bill down. Try matching that at IV... Also mentioned that their members called the lawmakers in thousands.

Well it seems the idea to get a Stimulus for 2008 for people having spouses with ITIN is nearing dead end (no action). Now the government is planning another stimulus. I think we should work on taking the necessary steps to prevent the same happening this year (being dropped out). I think we should raise awareness and write to all people including President Obama.

Even if they approve the GC, they can always revoke and ask you to return the card. This has happened somebody, I don't remmeber which forun I read about it. Call them up and inform them that your PD is not current. You can even go to local ASC and talk to an IO. If you have an attorney, inform him/her.

We are not talking about what's beneficial to the United States. What we are discussing is what the law says. It doesn't matter if it is beneficial to the United States or not, if it is the law of the land then everyone has to abide by it; even the government. I think everyone has a different opinion on what's beneficial for this country. If you talk to the people at numbersusa.com, they will say that H1B program and employment based immigration is the worst thing that happened to this country and should be stopped right at this moment yet we think that this is the best thing for this country. Go figure.
By the way, you seem to suggest that everyone in ROW is unskilled professional. Nothing can be further from the truth. I don't know where you get your facts from but it sounds like you certainly need some help on that front.
It does make sense that the overflow numbers are given to higher preference categories in single state oversubscribed countries. When you think about it, will that not be the most beneficial to United States? Who would you prefer .... and Unskilled professional from a ROW category or a skilled worker from an Oversubscribed country. There is a reason why Indians are required to take a transit visa. Coz, in the past there have been Indians (at EU airports) who have claimed that they have lost their memory, do not remember who they are, don't have any ID and hence qualify for asylum on medical grounds. Now these gov'ts are requiring ALL Indians to have a transit visa so that if anyone pulls such antics, they have all the information that they need to identify the individual and deport. Some bad apples have f&^%ed it up for all of us.
